Victoria Falls is the only waterfall in the world with a length of more than a kilometer and a height of more than hundred meters. It is also considered to be the largest fall in the world. The noise of Victoria Falls can be heard from a distance of 40 kilometers, while the spray and mist from the falling water is rising to a height of over 400 meters and can be seen from a distance of 50 kilometers. No wonder that the local tribes used to call the waterfall Mosi-o-Tunya "The smoke that thunders". Scottish missionary and famous explorer of Africa David Livingstone (1813-1873) named it after Queen Victoria. Livingstone who was the first European to cross Africa from south to north discovered this awe-inspiring waterfall in 1855, while preaching Christianity in Africa.
It is an easy 350 metre stroll along a wide track from the car park to the falls, and there are several viewing areas. For an interesting experience, visit the falls after dusk as they are floodlit until 11pm. Toorongo Falls The scenic tourist village of Noojee, on the way to Mount Baw Baw, is home to Toorongo Falls. Follow Toorongo Falls Road along the Toorongo River to a reserve which is about 9 kilometres from the town centre. Toorongo Falls are set within a wet forest, a 750 metre walk through the lush bush from the car park. Get right up close to the falls at the observation platform near its base where the Little Toorongo River cascades down the rocks. Trentham Falls Trentham Falls are located on the Coliban River near the small town of Trentham in the Macedon Ranges. These are the highest single-drop waterfall in Victoria, plunging 32 metres over basalt cliffs. Triplet Falls 12 kilometres east of Lavers Hill, in the Great Otway National Park near the Otway Fly, is Triplet Falls.
